At least two hours in the freezer before use; it comes with a freezer bag so you can keep it frozen and ready. The gel is a CMC, glycerin and water mix that stays flexible when frozen, so it moulds to the shoulder rather than sitting on it like a brick. Ice for about 15-20 minutes per session, then let the skin warm up.
Yes. Warm it gently. Never in a microwave on high or in boiling water, for muscle stiffness rather than swelling. Cold is for a fresh injury, swelling or post-surgery; heat is for a stiff, tight shoulder that isn't swollen.
