The number is the height of the collar. Sit upright and measure from the bottom of your jaw to the top of your collarbone; pick the height that fills that gap without pushing your chin up. Roughly: under 3" of neck, take the 2.5"; 3-3.5", take the 3"; longer necks, the 3.5". All three are 21" long and adjust around the neck with the strap.
Soft foam inside a nylon-and-spandex cover, with a bendable polypropylene splint through the middle. It's latex-free. The cover is removable for washing. Weight is 0.17-0.23 lb depending on height, so you forget it's there.
